I am unbelievably thrilled to announce:

I have been nominated for a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical, Female for my role as Meredith in Bat Boy, the Musical at Foothill Music Theatre last year.

The awards will be granted at a ceremony on May 3.

See the full list of nominees here.

I will be performing in Harold Pinter’s “Ashes to Ashes” with Second Wind Productions.

Directed by Ian Walker.

Runs April 16 - May 8 at The Phoenix Theatre (414 Mason, 6th Floor).

Pinter is a new challenge to me, and I’m very excited!

A last minute addition to my schedule:

I will be reading “Bianca” in a reading of “Women Beware Women” by Thomas Middleton presented by Cutting Ball Theatre’s “Hidden Classics Reading Series”, directed by Jessica Holt, Sunday, February 7, 2010 at 1:00 at the Exit on Taylor.  (Don’t worry, it will be over before the Superbowl begins.)

For more information see Cutting Ball’s website.

Sunday, January 17

I’ll be performing in a staged reading of a brand new, old-fashioned musical:  “Tropicoro!”  by Ken Malucelli.

This one isn’t open to the public, but hopefully there will be a full production sometime soon.

Now through December 20, 2009 (Thursdays - Sundays except Thanksgiving)

City Lights Theatre (www.cltc.org) presents

Another Night Before Christmas

Book and lyrics by Sean Grennan, Music by Leah Okimoto

Directed by Daren A. C. Carollo

With Lisa-Marie Newton as Karol and Michael Johnson as The Guy

ANOTHER NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is the story of burnt-out social worker Karol Elliot, who is having a crisis of Christmas spirit. While heading home on a lonely Christmas Eve, she shares her groceries with a homeless man who decides to rekindle her holiday cheer by breaking into her apartment later that night and insisting that he’s Santa Claus. Before long Karol begins to wonder: is this bearded stranger more than what he seems? A delight for the whole family, this witty and tuneful holiday romp is sure to win laughs from anyone who’s ever lost - or found - the holiday spirit.

Tickets available at cltc.org or call the box office (408) 295-4200

Staged reading of a great, new play by my friend Michelle Elaine Ianiro.  Hope you can make it out!  You’ll get goosebumps!

I have finally finished my grant proposal for the CA$H Grant from Theatre Bay Area. CA$H stands for “Creative Assistance for the Small (company) and Hungry (artist)”.

I’m hoping to receive the Individual award of $2,500.00 to help pay production costs for 2010 production of Befriending Shirley.  I should know by the end of October.  Wish me luck!

Theatre Bay Area (TBA) is a hugely valuable resource.  I hope we can all support them in their great work!

I’m very excited to announce that I will be performing in a reading of a brand new musical by Ken Malucelli called “Tropicoro!”  I play one of a trio of “goils” who sing and dance in a nightclub.  The script and music are a HOOT, and I can’t wait to work on it.  Performance on January 17, 2010.  More info to come…
